Romance book adaptations will always be among our favorite things, and Prime Video’s release of Carley Fortune’s Barry’s Bay series is next on our list of shows we’re counting the days for. Every Year After is set to release all its episodes on June 10. As fans of the books, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead, so let’s break down everything we know so far.
What Is Every Year After About?

The official logline reads: “Told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay—the quintessential lake town—Every Year After is a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.” While the series has a different title than the books, it’s evident that the debut season will cover the majority of Percy Fraser and Sam Florek’s love story from Every Summer After. In addition, for Charlie Florek fans, showrunner Amy B. Harris confirmed in a report at Elle that they will be taking inspiration from his book, One Golden Summer, so long as the series gets the chance to return for Season 2. Longtime readers know that the large appeal to these stories is that even while one couple gets their story, we still see them in later books, which likely means that Percy and Sam will be a big part of Charlie’s story as they are in the book.
The late Spring release is also so perfect to give us the deliciously romantic escape we’re all yearning for right now. It also bears noting that while there’s a very brief moment in which Percy also has a thing with Charlie, this story isn’t a love triangle like The Summer I Turned Pretty. There’s no back and forth between Percy and the Florek brothers, and hopefully the TV show won’t play on that either. The series is about found families and youth and friendship in a way that’s so beautifully honest in the books; it’s comforting to know that Fortune is an executive producer, so we can have hope that these themes will be present in the show, too.
Is There a Trailer for Every Year After?
A teaser or a trailer is likely coming soon, but it’s still too soon for one. All we have are a few first-look images, and we’ll update this when there’s more information.
Who’s in the Cast?

As of right now, the series stars Sadie Soverall, Matt Cornett, Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen, Michael Bradway, Joseph Chiu, and Elisha Cuthbert. We have casting for Percy, Sam, Charlie, Chantal, Delilah, Jordie, Sue Flork, and Diane Fraser. With first look images, each of them looks like they’ve been shaken out of the books, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how they bring our favorite characters to life.
