Megan Park’s Sterling Point is, without question, one of the best shows of the year, and the kind of rare gem that deserves multiple seasons and a movie. Raw, deeply heartfelt, and a gorgeously tender account of found families, it touched us all in some way. It’s also contributed to ensuring the summer is unforgettable for movies and TV shows. And now, we can officially feel a bit more joy knowing that Sterling Point Season 2 is green-lit.

Viewers understandably have a lot of hesitation going into new shows these days because they’re used to more cancellations than renewals, but we can at least take a deep breath with this one. There’s no way we could’ve left these characters behind with the way the debut season ended, leaving Annie and Ramona in separate places. At the same time, there’s so much to explore with the romance still that it’s going to be exciting to see how beautifully messy everything can get.
Here’s the thing: our generation is used to messy shows with complex characters, but a huge part of the problem in those stories is that they were written by men who never understood or cared about girls. In fact, the toxicity of that time has ruined plenty of shows, making them harder to revisit as adults. But the way Megan Park explores raw human emotions with nuance and delicacy proves to us that her characters, like the actors, will always be taken care of. And for that reason, this renewal news is everything.

The Sterling Point Season 2 announcement came via a Prime Video release on social media, and there’s nothing more exciting than this type of official confirmation. Whatever happens, it’s going to be so comforting to go back to the lakeside town that easily became a safe space for many.
