Released just under a year after their last album, Imploding the Mirage, the band’s latest record is a concept album exploring Brandon Flower’s childhood in Nephi, Utah. Frank Ilfman’s original score for Gunpowder Milkshake is both action-packed and slowly-encompassing. Let it be known, that while I was at Walt Disney World, on my first vacation since the beginning of the pandemic, I woke up on July 2nd excited to finally get my hands virtually on the Loki soundtrack. I’m home now for the release of the second volume and, I’ve listened to the two volumes all day. The music Natalie Holt has created for Loki perfectly fits the crazy, retro, sci-fi tone of this show. Pixar’s Luca is Disney’s latest release, and with a new animated film comes an incredibly stunning original score composed by Dan Romer. Music Monday: ‘Long Lost’ by Lord Huron
Long Lost, Lord Huron’s latest album is here and it’s incredible. (But then again, I haven’t listened to a Lord Huron album I didn’t like.) Long Lost features 16 songs and most of them are glorious. Long Lost even features a 14:18 minute long instrumental titled: “Time’s Blur,” and if you know anything about me, you know that instrumentals are my jam. It’s what I currently have on replay while writing this. It’s melancholic, but ephemeral and calming, all feelings that only lovely tracks can evoke.
