Widow’s Bay is one of the best shows of the year, and the one everyone should be watching, whether you’re a horror fan or not. Matthew Rhys and the entire cast are sensational throughout, and every episode brings something so exceptional that there are so few words for it.

With a guaranteed Season 2 renewal, there’s no excuse now for anyone interested in the show. I can understand fans being hesitant about starting new shows nowadays when things are canceled left and right, but that’s not only a rarity on Apple TV, but now, we have the security for Widow’s Bay. According to Deadline, the streamer is also signing creator Katie Dippold to a multi-year deal, despite no additional details being given.

The town’s lore is remarkably expansive, and having seen the finale already, I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the terrors that go bump in the night. The unique blend of horror and comedy that makes Widow’s Bay standout is unlike anything else I’ve seen in recent years, and Apple TV is home to some of the best original shows at this point.

The streamer’s means of exploring various genres is worth praising tirelessly, and so much of it also comes down to the fact that showrunners have immense respect for whatever they touch, making most shows on the platform superlative. For anyone who tends to believe that eight or ten episodes aren’t enough to tell a story properly, then they aren’t watching enough of Apple TV shows because this is exactly what Widow’s Bay does best in its debut run.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for its return because that seems to be the only flaw nowadays. However, it’s also understandable that shows have to take longer, and this one’s worth waiting for.
