Ghosts Season 4, Episode 19, “Pinkus Returns” Spoilers Ahead
Ghosts brings Trevor’s hero move full circle with another hilarious and emotionally well-written episode in “Pinkus Returns.” The series is always outstanding, but as we’re nearing the end of the fourth season, it’s getting easier to admit that there are truly no misses here.
As we learn in the trailer, Pinkus’ return delivers the news that Trevor is a dad, allowing Asher Grodman to continue bringing his A-game. The episode also closes the case on Pete’s girlfriend by finding the real murderer and giving their relationship a fair chance.
Ghosts Season 4, Episode 19 Is the Start of Trevor’s Dad Era
I say it often, but it’s truly so wild to me that Trevor is the character who makes me cry the most. If you’d told me when I first started watching the show, I wouldn’t have believed you, but Season 4 is especially good to our finance bro, and it allows for the lovely theme that reiterates how things aren’t always what they seem. How Trevor presents himself and the sheer sensitivity he actually retains is one of the more thrilling details about his character.
The tender excitement we see in the realization that Pinkus has a daughter, followed by his own shock when he learns who her biological father is, does such a fantastic job of bringing to life the detail that he’s always wanted a family. Even before Gideon Adlon’s Abby asks the question to Sam, Trevor’s behavior shows us that this news is so much more than he could’ve ever hoped for. And despite the fact that he takes matters into his own hands (literally with that disastrous text), it’s entirely understandable why he’d want to ensure that he sees her reaction to his identity.

Second chances are a central theme in the show, and every time we get a glimpse of how a character’s life is changed at Woodstone, it makes the series stand out as an accurate depiction of how grief works. These characters have each lost opportunities of some kind, yet with Sam and Jay’s presence, they’re given chances to explore new ways of living. Abby might never fully know Trevor, but Trevor knowing her in the way he now does brings a sense of ease to this purgatory. It gives him another chance to see that he continues to be someone with a legacy, and as a character who battles with what he’s lost often, there could not have been a more perfect revelation to allow him to feel hope again.
Pete and Donna, Still Going Strong
Now that Pete has cleared Donna’s name, the two are going strong, but it oddly doesn’t feel right in a sense. Part of the reason that makes shipping on the series so fun is that we get to see the ghosts interact with each other, and while we do get this with Pete and Donna, none of the other ghosts have ever met her. Plus, what about Alberta? A small part of me is wondering if that’ll ever happen, and while I don’t actively ship it, I do want more shenanigans within the house.
But also, Ghosts Season 4, Episode 19, “Pinkus Returns,” poses an interesting question: why aren’t Sam and Pete out solving murders together? Ghosts is the type of show I’d love to see go on for seasons on end, and adding a silly murder mystery attached to it can be such a fun way of exploring other narratives. Although really, as a homebody, I completely get Sam, too. Still, it’s always exciting when the series places Pete and Jay in a position where they get to help one another, and the factual piece of Prince lore we see fits so well in this week’s episode.
We’ve got a few more episodes left in the season, and everything seems to be going so smoothly now that I just know we’re bound for another wild cliffhanger. Whether that means Elias returns for more hellish news or something else goes awry, I’m actually (slightly) nervous. Still, Ghosts Season 4, Episode 19, “Pinkus Returns,” is at least one that we can rewatch for comfort.
