It’s been a hot minute since we’ve had an adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, and Georgia Oakley’s already promises that it’s going to be a gorgeous one. With a renowned cast of actors who’ll surely do an amazing job and a vision for something different, we can get what’ll likely be an adaptation that’ll bring new fans to the world of Jane Austen.
Who Is in the Sense and Sensibility 2026 Cast?
The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood, and that casting detail alone is everything to give me hope. Edgar-Jones consistently brings her A-game to every property she’s in, and since Normal People, everything she’s done consistently proves that her range is incredible.
Other prominent cast members include Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Caitriona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon, Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings, and more. Where the cast is concerned, the story is in the right hands, and all we can hope for is a faithful adaptation that honors the text as best as it can.
Is There a Trailer for Sense and Sensibility 2026?
There is, and it’s picturesque. Sense and Sensibility isn’t in my personal top three of Austen books, but it’s still easy to adore, and if I were to judge by the trailer, this one could very easily become my favorite adaptation to date.
It looks stunning and so warm that the colors remind me a bit of Joe Wright’s Pride and Prejudice. There’s something easy to trust about Focus Features also taking this adaptation under their belt, and it feels like the right call when we know that the production company is often home to some of the best movies.
There’s also something to appreciate about the tone that seems to really capture the heart of the story right off the bat, and that to me, is everything.
When Is Sense and Sensibility 2026 Coming Out?
The movie will release exclusively in theaters on October 16. The fact that we’ll immediately get to see this on the big screen is huge. More Austen adaptations in theaters, please and thank you.
