Ghosts 3×06 “Hello, Brother” Spoilers Ahead
Written by Guy Endore-Kaiser and directed by Trent O’Donnell, Ghosts Season 3, Episode 6, “Hello, Brother,” is an episode that underscores the importance of taking control where it’s necessary. It does this first with Trevor’s brother, Jeremy (guest starring Jon Glaser), and then with Pete.
There have been a plethora of changes inside Woodstone Mansion in Season 3, and things continue to feel off. [Can we please get to that well ASAP? Thanks.] Yet, all these new additions have ensured that we not only get to know the characters better but we watch them grow even in the afterlife. As much as Ghosts 3×06 “Hello, Brother” is about Trevor’s brother, it’s about him, too. And while we’re orbiting around Pete’s arc this week, we’re also made aware of how much Thor has changed.
Ghosts 3×06 “Hello, Brother” – Not Much Has Changed

Trevor continues to be one of my favorite characters in the show because of how subtly his character development comes to the surface. He understands how precious life is. He knows that every day matters now. And with this in mind, he continues to make decisions that’ll benefit others. There’s no doubt about the fact that he’d love to have his brother around even if Jeremy can’t see him. Who wouldn’t? But when he learns that Jeremy willingly left their family business because he isn’t willing to believe in himself or grow up, he takes matters into his own hands (literally) to get him out of Woodstone.
It’s these minute decisions that ultimately showcase how his own selfish ambitions don’t matter as much as watching his loved ones do better things. It’s also kind of fantastic that Jeremy’s arrival and cheating the system will result in Sam and Jay doing something about getting traffic to their site. (Whispers, SEO?)
The Worst Second Chance Romance Ever

Second chance romances are my bread and better. (Hi, yes, I even wrote one.) But it finally happened—I found the second chance romance I never, ever want to see again, and it’s between Pete and Carol, who continues to be deeply unpleasant. Caroline Aaron remains fantastic as an actress, which is why it’s so easy to loathe Carol. Still, it’s riveting to get an episode like Ghosts 3×06, “Hello, Brother,” where we see just how much the afterlife has changed Trevor versus how manipulative Carol continues to be.
Granted, there’s room for Carol to grow still, but this isn’t her journey as much as it is Pete’s. It’s up to him to learn his value and to understand that he’s worth so much more than being someone’s last resort or rebound. Carol cheating on him again with Thor ultimately proves that she doesn’t have remorse for what she’s done. She’s perfectly fine with the fact that she hurt Pete, not once, but twice now. It’s going to be interesting to watch them continue living in the same space after the confrontation, but it’s so telling that Thor apologizes, whereas Carol brushes it under the rug.
There’s also something to be said here about how Thor has grown after losing Flower. He makes brash decisions, sure, but he understands that he doesn’t want to hurt any of his friends. Further, the appalled look on Alberta’s face when she learns what Thor did shows us more of her heart despite how many times she’s rejected Pete. Everyone in this house cares about who Pete is far more than Carol ever did. The characters at Woodstone, no matter how vastly different from one another, are a family. They’re a safe place. A home away from home—better from their pasts in more ways than one. So, as much as Carol’s presence is frustrating, it’s a good thing to see Pete standing up for himself, which resulted in a solid performance from Richie Moriarty.
Ghosts 3×06 “Hello, Brother” is a solid, worthy episode to carefully emphasize the bonds within the show while showcasing how the characters have grown. It’s a hilarious feat for Jay as he competes in a video game with someone he can actually see, and it’s an intriguing exhibition of the different ways the ghosts are willing to look out for each other.
Stray Thoughts
- ISAAC LEARNING ABOUT DINOSAURS AND FALLING IN LOVE WITH THEM, EXCUSE ME!?!?!?!
- I need the candy/finger-sucking scene bleached out of my brain.
- Sas is everything.
- Look, I miss Hetty and Trevor.
- I also need Flower back immediately.
- Sam’s way of showing off the numbers was anything but subtle.
