At San Diego Comic Con earlier this summer, we got the official announcement that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 would be adapting from Rick Riordan’s The Titan’s Curse. A brief teaser and comments from the cast gave us substantial hope to believe that it’d be a faithful adaptation, and now that we’re getting closer, all of it feels even more believable.
With the show returning in the late fall, we’ll likely get more information as we get closer, but so far, there’s plenty to get excited about.
What Is Percy Jackson Season 3 About?
The official synopsis from Disney reads: “The stakes are higher than ever before as Percy is faced with the sudden disappearance of Annabeth and the impending Great Prophecy provided by the Oracle of Delphi, dictating the fate of Olympus. As foretold by the Oracle of Delphi, one demigod child of the “Big Three” is fated to raise Olympus to new heights or bring it crashing into ruin, with their own life hanging in the balance.”
In other words, buckle up, babes, because we’re going on another Odyssey, but unlike Odysseus in The Odyssey, it definitely won’t take Percy twenty years before he finds Annabeth. Our boy is determined, and I more confidence in him than anyone else.
Who’s in the Percy Jackson Season 3 Cast?
There are a few new faces alongside our returning favorites this year. First, we have confirmation that Hercules is cast, but we don’t yet know who will play him. Next up is Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, and we get a sneak peek of her in the new teaser, too. The iconic Ming-Na Wen will play Hera, Jennifer Beals will portray Demeter, and Hubert Smielecki will play Apollo.
More casting includes Actors Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie, who will portray siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, respectively. Dafne Keen as Artemis; Saara Chaudry as Zoē Nightshade; Holt McCallany as the Titan Atlas; David Costabile as Dr. Thorn; and Jesse L. Martin as Annabeth’s mortal father, Frederick Chase (via Deadline and Variety).
Is There a Trailer?
There’s a teaser trailer, and I’ve been in shambles since I watched it the first, second, and third time. By the fourth time, I’m now fully inconsolable. You think you know what to expect from a season that’s centered around a book, but the way this one’s mixed is utterly sensational. The performances are already so gripping, and the fact that we have less than a fraction of what we’ll get is wild.
The choice to center this teaser trailer around Annabeth and make a point about what it means to love in this world full of gods, humans, and monsters is no small feat. The team is well aware of how important Percy’s love for Annabeth is, and they aren’t making it a secret. I’m still thinking about Percy telling Annabeth he knew how special she was after two days in Season 2, and this teaser proves how monumental that confession really was. When Percy Jackson sets his mind to something, he’s going to achieve it. And it’s never been more obvious that no one in this world is more precious to him than Annabeth Chase, even if he doesn’t exactly realize it’s love he’s feeling.
If this is just the teaser trailer, I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what the full trailer will look like. We’ll update this article then.
When Is Percy Jackson Season 3 Coming Out?
